About the Trainer
Elwyn T. Davidson, MA, CSCS
Hi there. I’m Elwyn Davidson. There are a few things I’d like you to
know about me; things that separate me from other trainers.

First, I am a National Strength and Conditioning  Association—
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. What that means to
you is that I have been professionally trained to help you get strong
and fit safely and in a way that serves your body.

Second, I have twenty years of result driven training experience. I
pride myself on my ability to train clients of all fitness levels, from
the special needs population to the elite athlete. My client base has
included a group of women with Multiple Sclerosis; the Colorado
State University Dance Team (Golden Poms); Steven Reinprecht
(Calgary Flames/NHL); the University of California, Riverside Women’
s Basketball Team; and the Rocky Mountain High School Girl’s
Basketball Team.

Third, I am a former competitive athlete and coach. This has taught
me the advantages of hard work and a single- minded dedication in
order to compete at a high level year in and year out. I believe that
there is no short cut to optimum health and fitness; those who reap
the rewards at the end are those who have put in the sweat, time,
and work necessary to get the results they desire.

I am married to Nicole and live in Loveland, CO with our two children.

I look forward to helping you take your game to the next level both
mentally and physically!
QUALITIES OF A GR8 “ATHLETE”

CONFIDENCE

  • GR8 Athletes develop a “go for it” mentality, are not afraid to fail, and remain confident even when the going gets
tough.  This athlete prepares hard everyday.

  • The “Wanna-Be” GR8 Athlete has a false confidence; one not built on preparation but on factors out of their
control, for example I don’t need to work hard because, “I have GR8 athletic ability.”

TEACHABLE SPIRIT

  • GR8 Athletes want to learn and improve.  This athlete is enthusiastic about being the best and wants to see
continuous improvement every day.  This athlete has learned to take criticism as a compliment and views it as an
    opportunity to improve.

  • The “Wanna-Be” GR8 Athlete looks at any correction as criticism and will typically respond with an excuse for why
    the mistake occurred.

PRIDE

  • The GR8 Athlete understands that the team wins games, not individuals.   This athlete has learned to follow the
sacred rule of nature, “The strength of the PACK is the WOLF; the strength of the WOLF is the PACK.”  Team pride
is developed in parts of the game that require more effort than skill, where Determination Is More Important Than
    Talent (DIMITT).

  • The “Wanna-Be” GR8 Athlete is self-oriented and often selfish.  This player typically develops a “sense of
entitlement,” where he/she believes that athletic skill should warrant special treatment.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • The GR8 Athlete is responsible and takes personal accountability for what happens to him/her.  When things go
wrong, instead of playing the “blame game” this athlete looks at him/herself first to see what he/she can do to
    make a difference.

  • The “Wanna-Be” GR8 Athlete blames everyone else but him/herself when things are not going well.

COMPETITIVE PERSEVERENCE

  • GR8 Athletes and GR8 Teams are not deterred by bad times.  Positive, competitive, persevering athletes are
“mentally tough,” a quality that allows an individual to remain confident, enthusiastic, and positive.  Mentally
tough athletes cannot have their spirits broken; this type of athlete can literally lose to an opponent ten times
and look forward to the rematch.  They welcome challenge and look forward to the toughest competition because
that is how you get better.

  • The “Wanna-Be” GR8 Athlete is easily discouraged and allows yesterday’s failures and disappointments to
    interfere with today.

DISCIPLINE

  • GR8 Athletes are mentally focused.  They have the strength of character to overcome temptations and pressures
and will do what is right for their team at the moment of truth.  Discipline is exhibited by attentiveness,
enthusiasm, sportsmanship, respecting authority, and personal responsibility.  Because GR8 Athletes display
“athletic Integrity,” they are better teammates.

  • The Wanna-Be” Gr8 Athlete chooses self-indulgence (“I’ll do what I want!”) over self-control and only thinks of
    discipline in terms of punishment.

TEAM FIRST

  • Teamwork is a rare gift that allows ordinary people to attain extraordinary results.
           + Together
           + Everyone
           + Achieves
           + More

  • On GR8 teams all roles have equal value, and GR8 teams are comprised of athletes who have given up the quest
for individual glory, nothing can compare with the memories built from being part of something bigger than ones
    self.

  • The “Wanna-Be” GR8 Athlete is a selective participant who is looking to monopolize the spotlight by satisfying
personal needs over the needs of the team.  The “Me First” Mentality.
